Pre-January 2010: for several years we have felt an urge to foster/adopt a child(ren) into our family
Early January 2010: God laid it on our hearts and confirmed it for us in many ways, that now was the time to adopt
January 2010: Enrolled with Family & Children's Services
February 2010: Met with Adoption Practitioner to initiate homestudy and necessary paperwork
March/April 2010: Attended PRIDE training
March-May 2010: Homestudy interviews, home inspection, medicals
April 6, 2010: submitted fingerprints for FBI and RCMP
April 10, 2010: received cleared fingerprints for RCMP
--awaiting FBI clearance & adoption practitioner's homestudy report back
June 15, 2010: received FBI clearance
June 29, 2010: homestudy complete and with Family & Children's Services
July 28, 2010: officially accepted into the Mission of T.E.A.R.S. South Africa program!!
September 16, 2010: updated homestudy to include South African component
September 27, 2010: met with Mission of T.E.A.R.S. director, submitted paperwork, including (international) homestudy (homestudy is off to the Ministry -in Canada- for approval, should take 6-8 weeks).
October 2010: sent away for Part 1 of the citizenship application (due back by April, hopefully sooner!)
November 5-6, 2010: Transracial Parenting Course
December 15, 2010: Received Letter of Approval from the Ontario government - YAHOO!!!!
